On Thursday we came to London and stayed for my birthday, the one place I desperately wanted to go to was the wonderful Fortnum & Mason, anyone that follows my instagram knows I am a huge fan! Let me show you why!
So let me tell you about F&M as it has some history!
1707. Founded in Duke Street by Hugh Mason, from a small store in St James Market and a spare room in his house, and the Fortnum family who had arrived in London as high class builders reinvigorating Mayfair in the wake of the Great Fire. William Fortnum, who was quite the entrepreneur, also took a post as Footman in Queen Anne’s household and in Mr Mason’s spare room, where Fortnum met Mason.
1738. Invented the Scotch Egg for travellers
1794. they became a Post O1886.
1814. They became Suppliers to royalty and soldiers alike
For all my American readers did you know :1886. Mr Heinz brings Baked Beans to Piccadilly
My favourite peice of history is this : 1911. Sent hampers to suffragettes imprisoned for breaking our windows
In 1922. They provisioned the first British Everest Expedition – How amazing is that!
2012. Her Majesty the Queen visited with TRH the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge. The Queen formally opened the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon.
There is so much more but you really need to go to the store and look online for more, but I am super proud to have such a wonderful British store with all its abundant history.
As you know the weather has been crazy, we have had snow even in the capital and it was -4 so my first stop was the ice-cream parlour! I know I am a little crazy but it was too cold for that, but a nice pot of Earl Grey and a slice of Flourless chocolate cake was in order! Well we did need to warm up!
Here are some pictures of the Ice -cream Parlour, it is such a beautiful, bright and cheery place! I loved it!
How gorgeous are the wall murals!
So pretty and bright, and comfy peachy blush seating! Heavenly!
The yummy flourless chocolate cake on beautiful China plates, Wonderful!
So cute and pretty! You will love it!
My teacup is the bottom part of the teapot! Ingenious!
The lovely staff found out it was my birthday, where they brought me out another chocolate flourless cake as apparently I needed the “fortnum Experience” (don’t worry I had it packaged up to take away) The staff and all the customers then sang “Happy Birthday” I was so embarrassed but it was a lovely thing to do!
We then after feeling warm and sated decided to start on this floor and look around at all the beautiful china, their cutlery and kitchen accessories, stationery and the AMAZING candles & diffusers range! They blew my mind and my sense of smell! Anyone knows me and my obsession with fragrance would know I had found my bliss right there!
I loved the fish serving plates and pie pots – adorable! I cod see me with these! Sorry I couldn’t help myself there!
Look at all the colour! Such a bright & beautiful happy place! And we haven’t even got to the tea, chocolates and biscuits yet!
Look at this! If that does not make you want to get down there right now or shop online I don’t know what will! The treats for Easter, Mindblowing and Delicious!

We then had a whiff around my favourite By Terry fragrances my favourite is Delecation Splendide, a nice selection of Fresh Products and they did have my favourite fragrance by them called Cannabis Santal! Trust me it smells divine!! We then had a good look around Bamford, where the lady for that section had a great chat with us and asked if we had been to Daylesford, and sadly I haven’t yet! would love to though, so hopefully one day! It’s on the list! I have tried the Bamford Geranium bath oil which is pure relaxation in a bottle! If you get very stressed and achy This is perfect for soothing your tired mind and muscles! And thank you to the Bamford sales lady she was super knowledgeable and like with all the staff in Fortnums, professional, helpful and kind!
