It was suggested to me as I have a large collection of coffee table books, that a monthly series of reviewing these would be great! kicking it off this month with PrettycityLondon Book review. As I am sure lots of people would love to know the secret Instagramable locations in London for the perfect photo or destination where you can experience great food & shopping.
I have quite a variety of Coffee Table books, many are a lifestyle book, or interior decor and some beauty books, with the odd niche recipe book too. There should be something for everyone. I am a bookworm so I am really excited to share this series with you!
My review of PrettyCityLondon by Siobhan Ferguson,
To give you some background Siobhan Ferguson is from the west coast of Ireland and upon moving to London whilst out exploring the glorious capital she took herself away from all the big hotspots and came across all these hidden gems, which Siobahn photographed on her smartphone and shared on what is today’s hugely popular Instagram feed known to many as instagram.com/prettycitylondon Siobhan has been sharing these beautiful images since 2010. This book has been created so you too can now seek out these hidden gems and capture your own moments at them.
Firstly PrettyCityLondon is breathtaking from start to finish, the photography and design are exquisite. This book is set out so well making it really easy to follow, it’s broken down by Neighbourhoods, with photos, a little map to show the hotspots, the drawings are adorable, and I find just adds to the quaint and delightfulness of this book.
Siobhan supplies Photography tips and also lets you know the best Instagram Hotspots! Whilst also providing a little history of each location and chosen venue. What more could you want, I believe all tourists and social media fans will just love this.
I find what sets this book out from any guide is it is a real original not only in its delivery but also all of its content, Siobhan also lets you see PrettyCityLondon through the seasons so you can see where the best places are to explore at that time of year and what you will be likely to discover, from what plants will be flowering such as we all know about Wisteria Hysteria! Then there is also information where applicable of what is on currently in London during those seasons, for example, the Chelsea flower show.
Lastly but not least, Siobhan takes you on her recommended things to do in London, which I will not share, you really need to get the book and see for yourself!
This book truly is ingenious, and I find it really inspiring, mood lifting and stirs such pride as I am a born and bred London girl, and even though I am a Londoner, quite a few of these spots were news to me, though I have always known Richmond, Twickenham and Chiswick to be stunning as growing up all around there has always been beautiful and places I have nothing but fond memories of.
My advice is, get the PrettyCityLoncon book for your coffee table, pour yourself a hot drink or even a cocktail, sit back and get lost in this beautiful book, I can guarantee anyone you buy this as a gift for will love and cherish it, and I think it will stir many conversations and you will want to explore not just London but find the hidden gems in your own town and cities!
Please do let me know if you buy this book your thoughts and what has it encouraged you to go and explore, has it helped your photography or made you want to document your own adventures in a certain way?
